Dr. Schultz is Assistant Professor of German and Foreign Language Education, a newly-hired faculty member in August 2008. For Fall Semester 2008, he teaches the Introduction to German I course (GRMN 1001), and he is currently supervising teacher candidates enrolled in the FLED 4498 course. Prior to accepting his position at KSU, Dr. Schultz taught six years at MMI Preparatory School in Freeland, Pennsylvania, where he taught all the German classes from the ninth to twelfth grades, and also taught United States Government, World History, and Advanced Placement European History.
Under his tutelage, numerous students received recognition on the AATG National German Exam, and students received a score of 4 and 5 on the AP European History Exam. He also served as the head coach of the school’s speech/debate team, and coached students to the National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Tournament for four years. He was also a member of the executive council for the Central Pennsylvania chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German.
Dr. Schultz uses technology resources daily in his instruction, and his primary research interests are centered on the implementation of technology in foreign language instruction, and how technology is infused into standards-based instruction. He has regularly used digital media in his German instruction, and has encouraged students to create their own digital media productions in German. He is currently developing technology guidelines and standards for the Foreign Language Education program.
